It’s 2015! On the days leading up to this New Year I’ve been
thinking a lot about new beginnings. I noticed that we humans seem to be
obsessed with them. We convince ourselves that every decade, month, week, day,
and hour heralds a new beginning. We believe that when the hands of the clock
turn and begin that moment, we too begin again as new people. It’s all a
construct, of course, made up in our heads. We don’t actually become new
people. Our slates are not proverbially wiped clean. But the amazing thing is
that because we believe that we are going to change, we do. We strive to make
ourselves better and because we think the New Year (or month, week, etc) gives
us new strength, it does. A very smart man once said “the way we imagine the
world ends up shaping reality”. Our reality. The power to change is within us. We
need only look.
So here’s to a brand New
Year and the confidence and strength it brings. Here’s to the knowledge that we
are masters of our own destinies. Here’s to all the stories we have lived and
the ones we are going to write. Here’s to 2015 and the promise of infinite new
beginnings.
Here’s to the Godswood!
Until next time,
